Albert Wong was seen as the immigrant hero of the Adam Freeland
music video "We Want Your Soul." Directed by the award-winninng
team Happy (Guy Shelmerdine and Richard Farmer) and produced by Smuggler
Productions, the MTV-supported music video has played extensively in
the UK where Freeland's song broke into the top 40. Characterized as
a biting critique of consumer-culture, the video has developed a minor
cult following.
Wong has
also been seen performing his original one-person piece, "Myth",
at the Highways Performance
Space in Santa Monica, Angel's Gate in San Pedro, and the Esalen
Institute in Big Sur. Selected (in conjunction with Teada
Productions) as "Best of Calendar" by the LA Weekly, this
grippingly autobiographical piece blows out numerous personal and ethnic
myths from all angles.
He recently
debuted on daytime TV -- booking a recurring role on "Days of Our
Lives" -- and currently has four commercials running on national
network TV (including "Principal Financial Group," "T-Mobile,"
and "Re/Max"). He was co-star of Brad Kageno's Independent
Film "Boyz Day" (recently billed at the San Diego Asian Film
Festival) and the writer for the screenplay, "The Perfect Child"
(an Austin Film Festival quarterfinalist). Upcoming appearances include:
Discovery Channel's "Unsolved History," "American Experience,"
"Whales of Las Vegas," and a starring role in the independent
film "Cup of Joe."
Trained
at Princeton, Oxford, the University of Michigan, and the Esalen Institute,
Wong is proud to be a recent addition to the Santa Monica College Theatre
Arts Faculty where he teaches a Stanislavski-oriented acting course
and serves as the adjunct faculty's departmental representative to the
Academic Senate.
